I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:16-20)

Jesus is more than enough for me. Today, I was reading a blog post by one of my newest favorite authors, Shauna Niequist, with the same title as this one. Enough. Her book, Cold Tangerines was introduced to me a few months back and has become a great joy in my life the last few weeks. The book’s theme is celebration. It’s a short story collection that celebrates God’s work in our lives daily, it’s about being ecstatic for the little things and realizing we are greatly blessed by God. It’s about being joyful always, and fulfilled in Jesus alone. It’s about realizing that I have enough today and not worrying about what I will have tomorrow. It’s about knowing that God will fill me daily. Its about living for the moment and not waiting for the moment to happen. Because waiting ins’t living. God calls us to live for Him daily, not wait to see if tomorrow brings something better, or to wait for that one big moment that will change everything. We have a choice daily to be joyful, to realize today is the very best day and enjoy it!

One thing I have learned on this journey lately is that before I can truly love others, I must first understand how much Jesus loved me. Before I can truly forgive others, I must grasp the true forgiveness I received from God. And before I can truly be a Christian (one who follows in the footsteps of Christ), I must know what that looks like. I must understand His sacrifice and His service before I will ever be able to be truly selfless, before I can pick up my own cross and follow Him.

And the love and forgiveness He lavishes on us is not an easy thing to understand and it is an ever more difficult thing to live daily in this knowledge, felling fulfilled by the only thing we need, God’s love. We must trust that this love isn’t going anywhere. It is the one and only thing that will stand the test of time and eternity. It is the only this that matters.With this, I have enough.
