Using Faith to Create Awesomeness

15 12 2010

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” (Hebrews 11:6-8)

Today as I was reading my usual news online, I came across a blog post I really liked. Its a blog about fear, from a secular point of view. Check it out here. It’s called “Using Fear to Create Awesomeness.” Such a great title that I used it too 🙂 And he has a great point. The human race is where it is today, with new technology, medical wonders and great ideas because people took risks. They stepped out of their comfort zone and did something that maybe no one else was doing, maybe alone. Without someone trying to build a flying machine, travel as we know it today would be impossible. Without someone having the idea of information sharing, me blogging and you reading it would be impossible.

So how does this apply to our lives as Christians? While I think that owning up to our fears and overcoming them is a huge part (currently reading In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day), I think that before we can overcoming fear with God’s support, with must first have faith. It is our faith that will allow us to believe that through God we can do all things, and then stepping out in faith we have the power of God on our side to overcome any fear.

I love this verse in Hebrews, as well as the rest of chapter 12, because it is pretty much a faith hall of fame. I am highly encouraged by the stories of Noah and Abraham, that with their faith one saved the entire human race and the other started a whole nation. If they can do it, so can I. We believe in the same God, we are God’s chosen people and He will do great and mighty things through us if we just allow Him. So have some faith, God has it all under control. I don’t want to live a life of so-so. I want to be adventurous, take risks, dream big, accomplish much. God use me, send me. I don’t know where I am going, but I know I’m on God’s path for my life. And this jouney won’t be easy, but it will be fun 🙂

In His love,
