We are equipped to do His will

“Now may the God of peace…equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.” (Hebrews 13:20-22)

This past week I spend some much needed time away from my life in the United States and traveled to Puerto Penasco, Mexico where Amor Ministries is building homes year-round. November has traditionally been one of our busiest times of the year for building there, and this year was no exception. While I was there for 6 days, more than 450 volunteers constructed 14 homes and a school classroom. It was a whirlwind weekend but it was exactly what I needed. I love how God uses every single situation for His glory. No matter how sad, or tragic, or confusing it might be, He is ultimately glorified by the end result. And he has put the right people in the right places at the right time for a purpose. I loved taking a step back this week and just watching the whole story unfold. Families who have next to nothing and participants who have more than enough, working side by side to give God glory. Mexican families who have trusted God for everything being given one of the biggest blessings they will ever receive, their own home. I love this verse because it reminds me over and over that God has created each of us to be equipped to serve Him. We have been given just the right strengths and weaknesses goals and skills to so specific purposes for His Kingdom. How much God loves us! How well God knows us! I never imagined that simple things like taking Spanish classes in middle school would lead me to cross-culturally communicate and translate so that participants and families can communicate. Never thought that my cheerful attitude would lead me to supervise construction projects with true and genuine encouragement. Never thought that my empathetic spirit would lead me to make friends with people whom I connect with emotionally without ever having a conversation in English. I never thought these things. But God thought them. To Him be the glory.

In His love,
