Waiting on God’s Timing

5 11 2010

“Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.” (Colossians 1:11)

patience. What an interesting concept that somehow after 22 years I still can’t quite grasp. Its the one thing you can never have too much of, without it, life happens and things get frustrating. I feel like patience and worry go hand in hand. It I could stop worrying about silly things, and know that God is in control, I wouldn’t get stressed out easily. Similarly, if I had more patience, then it would be easier to trust God for His right timing, and I would reap the same benefit. But how? How do we find more patience? Well first, patience is a fruit of God’s Holy Spirit. Patience shows up in my life when I am running after God, completely in step with His Spirit’s guidance. Fruit of the Spirit are an overflow of God’s love for us as well outwardly express it to others. So then, the question becomes, how am I an example of Christ in my impatience? I am not. That’s the answer. No one can see Christ at work in me while I am tapping my foot and checking my phone for the time. So take a deep breath, and know, that it will all work out in the end, in God’s timing. Because to Him only a brief second seems like eternity to us.

In His love,
