Are you a breath of fresh air?

29 10 2010

“Do everything readily and cheerfully—no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night” (Philippians 2:14-15, Message)

I love the Message translation of the Bible. Even though it is not perfect, it makes things so clear, so easy to understand. This verse in particular makes the stark contrast between how Christians should act, and how they do act, so obvious.

When I interact with others, there should be something obviously different about me. As Christians, we are not called to conform by the world, but instead we are to be set apart, different. When someone meets me, they should be able to tell that I am a Christian. But is this how it really is? not usually. Mostly because instead of being a “breath of fresh air,” I , like many other Christians are just more of the same. Or, sometimes even worse. How can we expect others to love the Jesus we love if our example of Him is so poor? We are the only Jesus some people will see.

So lets bring light to the darkness, a breath of fresh air to the world.

In His love,

Stacey
