Tell everyone!

“I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly. Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me.” (Psalm 40:9-11)

The past few days at Amor, I have been working through some employment personality assessments and strengh finding tests. Each employee at Amor goes through these same tests, and has benefited greatly from the increased self-awareness. The test I took yesterday is called the DiSC test and it identifies professional behavioral patterns. DiSC stands for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness. The test determines your primary and secondary behaviors, which together give you a pattern. My primary is Influence, which basically means “relates well to social situations and communication” and my secondary is Steadiness, which means “thoughtful and consistent.” The particular pattern is called “counselor.” After reading the details of these characteristics, I was basically like Whoa! how do they know me so well? Its crazy how simple questions can be so telling, both regarding good and bad characteristics, things to further and things the change.

So it got me thinking…. if my strengths are in communication, social situations, thoughtfulness and consistency… how can I use them for the Kingdom of God, since these talents are God given? My first thought was through evangelism. Not the knock-on-your-door-do-you-know-Jesus kind, but just by using my skills of making conversation easily, being empatheitc and flourishing around large groups of people, to often bring the conversation from just small talk  to talking about the Lord. It is one thing that I haven’t done much of yet, but something I can improve on throughout the year.

In His love,

Is there a website to actually print off the test and take it? We have taught Gary Chapman’s The Five Love Language class several times, it is always interesting when couples take that test and learn more about themselves and their mate. Would love to take this one!
