God of all creation

“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.” (Psalms 63:1-3)

Wow! Yesterday was one of my favorite days so far in California. In addition to having lots of fun (lunch with the wonderful Joanna Flavin, bonfire on the beach, hanging out in the sun, etc) I felt completely surrounded and enveloped by God’s love and grace. It was the first time in a long time that I felt this way. Just totally in awe of how much God loves all of us in a personal and perfect way. And on top of that, how He is so powerful, all knowing, omnipotent, merciful and holy. How can he be both? So personal and so BIG at the same time? And love me so much that His love makes me whole, surrounds me with the only true sense of peace one can ever find.

As this verse says, His love is better than life. For as much as I say that I need this or that, or long for something or someone, ultimately nothing in this life will ever make me feel the fullness I feel from being in God’s will and having a personal relationship with Him.

So as I sat last night, on the beach, by the fire and the water, just listening to the music and the rhythmic sounds of nature all around me,  I looked towards the heavens and simply smiled. Because right there in that moment God was there, and His love is better than life.

In His love,

chills. especially in that paragraph. i know exactly what you’re saying, the smile is like a automatic spirit led smile in a way that you can’t help. i was sitting by this lake behind spc the other day, noooobody else was there, and i couldn’t help but sit there and smile at all the gorgeous. God’s creation, let alone, his love..can be so over passed so easily. i can’t wait for a CA night on the beach with you stacey:)
